Barbershop music--in the 1930s, the tune, shoo doop shooby doo, broadcasted from numerous street corners across North America.

No instruments were needed, just some rhythm and sheer singing power. On April 9, the Seaforth Harmony Kings kept the nearly century-old a cappella style of melody active. They ventured to Scarborough Ont. with one thing on their mind-gold.  After losing last year by a nose hair, they knew what was needed to walk away victorious.

While sitting in a convention auditorium watching a contest, have you ever had these thoughts?

"My scores usually track with those of the official panel. I wonder how I'm doing today";
"I plan to apply this fall to become a judge -- it would be great if I could do a practice judging session somewhere to ensure that it's the right path for my barbershop future";
or simply, "It sure would be fun to judge an International contest!"
