Heartland Division having exciting times

By Don Coghlin, Manager Heartland Division

Happy New Year to all from the Heartland Division. All chapters attended COTS and came away with many new ideas for the coming year. The Heartland Division presidents met over lunch on Saturday for their first divisional meeting. At the end of January they had their second meeting. Here are some of the activities that are planned.

Guelph Chapter

Working on new members with several new ideas being tried. Working on annual show music coming up April 8 and 9. They have had one coaching session and are preparing for spring competition in Niagara Falls. New officers have been installed at their annual Christmas party.

Kitchener-Waterloo Chapter

It is always good to start the year off by treating our ladies to a night out. This was a big hit at their dinner and dance on February 12. They continue to work on attracting new members with their new web page. The chapter is looking forward to a new rehearsal hall, starting March 1 at The Schwaben Club. Many new projects can be seen happening from this venue. Show arrangements on April 30 are well underway.

Mount Forest Chapter

Ladies and guests were well entertained at the installation night when Family Ties (Rick and Gail Snoulten, George and Gayle Shields) along with former member John Paul Hohenadel provided a good evening. Rick Snoulten installed the new members of the executive. The chapter has already done some sing outs including the 90 birthday party of the still active charter president John Laughlin. Plans are nearly complete for their annual show in the fall

Owen Sound Chapter

With their new name (Encore) and new uniforms (complements of the Stoney Creek Chapter) this chapter is looking forward to the additions of a number of new members (six so far this year). They are working hard on their annual show May 28.      k
