Registrations open for fifth SONGFEST

By Bob Burrell

All senior Barbershoppers with their afternoons free are invited to join with 175 of their closest buddies at SONGFEST 2005, on Wednesday June 1, 2005, at Milliken Mills Community Centre in Markham.

Some 15 senior  groups, quartets, VLQs and choruses, have been invited to perform. For those there as observers, there are several gang sings, tags and a new song to learn. The hall opens at 12:30 noon, the fun starts sharp at 1:00 p.m. The singing continues until supper at 5:30 p.m., with the last chords ringing before 7:00 p.m., to give everyone time to get home before dark.

All seniors are welcome to register and join in the SONGFEST, the fifth annual since SONGFEST 2001 was created by Al Davis in, you guessed it, 2001. You’ll enjoy it. Ask anyone who’s been at one. And a special invitation to Frank Thorne members, who don’t get an opportunity to sing with a gang like this very often!

Registration is $20, which includes all expenses, drinks, snacks, music, supper and souvenirs. To get a registration form, or for that matter to register, send your name, address, e-mail address if any, and voice part sung to Bob Burrell, 16 Sherwood Forest Drive, Markham, ON, L3P 1P7, e-mail rbtbrl @ rogers.com. You can phone for more info at 905-471-1018.  If you are registering, enclose a cheque for $20 made out to R. M. Burrell.  You will receive a mailing with further information and a map early in May.

Seniors, this is something you DON’T WANT TO MISS!      k
