Sometimes I wonder

By Waldo Redekop, Editor/Publisher The Trillium

This article started out about the problems I had with the last issue. Especially with a postal auditor named Glenn who made me spend a day adding another label to each Trillium. He claimed there was some information missing from the back page.

I called Customer Service, they said they didn’t know where he got that interpretation of the rules. Glenn’s boss, George said he also didn’t understand but since Glenn was the auditor I should do as he said if I wanted the issue out. So I spent another day adding a label, which I found out later was due to the fact that he misinterpreted a section and made a mistake.

Sometimes I wonder why a person can’t just say “Sorry” when they make a mistake, especially when they are supposed to be serving the public.

Nothing but computer troubles with the last issue and this one. Sometimes I wonder if this modern technology is as useful and wonderful for us as some people claim. Almost makes me wonder if the Luddites didn’t have a valid point in their protests (although I wouldn’t want to go back to that time).

Donna and I went to the Strathroy Chapter’s afternoon show on April 2. Enjoyable way to spend an afternoon. Came out to a blizzard! It took us nearly twice as long to get home. Sometimes I wonder about the weather, especially after nearly a month of fantastic weather that we had.

What a fantastic weekend in Niagara Falls at the district spring convention. Best chorus and quartet competition I had been at for a long time. Great to see a lot of Barbershoppers you only meet once or twice a year as we live too far apart to visit regularly. But then, there are a lot of Barbershoppers I have never seen at a convention. Sometimes I wonder why more Barbershoppers do not attend these functions.

At convention, it was a pleasure meeting and working with our former Society CEO, Don Harris. A few days later we received the news that he had resigned. Sure made me wonder.

Of course, April 23 Donna and I thought the weather would be safe for us to go to the London Chapter’s sixtieth anniversary show. Came out and the ground was covered in snow, and it nearly was May already. Sure made me wonder about the weather, again.

Working on this issue, not getting many articles from the executive, again made me wonder why some of those who are elected to lead the district don’t want to write articles about any ideas that they may have for their positions or the district generally. Of course, I often wonder about these things. However, I was able to include a lot of extra material about the Society and Salt Lake City contest. Wonder how those contests will finish.

And now, after the long weekend in May, campgrounds are open, cottages have been opened, and summer vacation plans have been made. Hope you all have a wonderful summer. I wonder how many of you I will see at Salt Lake City or the fall convention in Brantford. k
