[From the Ontario District's newsletter,
The Trillium, issue 60-01, January - March, 2006 , Waldo Redekop,
editor.]
It started 60 years ago

I have been fortunate to have received a number of old issues of our district
newsletters. Since this is our 60th year, I thought I would ask a few questions
and see how many know anything about our background.
We ran a trivia contest at a convention in Niagara Falls. It was a lot
of fun. Not sure if this would qualify as it isn’t trivial. I wonder how
Eric will do on this one.
I won’t be offering a prize. The last time I offered free tickets to Forever
PLAID (one of the funniest shows Donna and I have seen), only three people
sent in answers. Good thing I had three prizes as all of the answers were
correct.
So, try the following.
-
1. What was the date of the first Ontario District newsletter?
-
2. What was the name of the newsletter?
-
3. Who was the editor?
-
4. Who was the district president that year?
-
5. Who was the editor the second year of the newsletter?
-
6. Who was the district president the second year of the newsletter?
-
7. What was the advertising rate for a quarter-page ad in the first issue?
-
8. What well-known person sang baritone in a registered quartet that advertised
in the first issue and what was the name of the quartet?
-
9. A quartet that won the regional contest was featured in that first issue.
Which quartet and who was the baritone? (He is still actively singing in
the district.)
-
10. In that contest, there were eight quartets. There were four choruses,
of which two chapters no longer exist. Can you name the four chapters?
