Ontario Barbershoppers
tops
in showing support
By Duncan Macgregor, APOC treasurer
On Tuesday, June 20, 2006, we will make some more history in the Ontario District! Starting at 7:30 p.m., we will begin our 20th Annual Ontario District PEP RALLY.
The Ontario District has been supporting this event over the past 19 years and during that time, a total of $128,200 has been provided to our International chorus and quartet representatives.
During the past year, $13,500 was contributed on behalf of Ontario Barbershoppers to our Ontario Representatives ($40,500 in the past three years).
The Association Of Ontario District Quartet Champions (APOC) are once again sponsoring this event at the Capital Banquet Centre, 6435 Dixie Road, Mississauga. The cost of a reserved table continues to be only $125.
However, there are two changes to be noted for our next PEP RALLY:
Why the changes?
Our Society has opened up the International Contests to more and more choruses and quartets. As a result, we find ourselves going into the hole as we provide more and more funds to our International Representatives.
In the past year we supported two choruses, two quartets, one college quartet, and three Senior’s quartets. With all of this activity, we have made the decision to raise the price of admission to $15 (but, where else can you get this much entertainment for $15?) rather than cutting back on the funds going to our representatives. And, we are cutting out the intermission so that the evening can end a little sooner than it has in the past!
APOC now needs you to do two things.
One last note. Ontario Barbershoppers can be proud of the support that they have provided to their International Representatives. Most districts do not provide support like this to their representatives.
The Ontario District has led the Society in this support to quartets and
choruses.
THANKS, ONTARIO!
Our APOC president, Chris Beetham, and all the rest of the APOC gang look forward to sharing another wonderful evening of fellowship and harmony with you on June 20, 2006.
BE THERE! k
