$23,800 Ontario Trillium Foundation grant hits the right note with the Trentones
The Trentones [Quinte Regional Chapter] received an early Christmas present on Saturday when MPP Ernie Parsons and Carol Chisholm, a volunteer with the Ontario Trillium Foundation, officially announced a $23,800 grant for new equipment and uniforms. The Trentones visited eight seniors residences and nursing homes throughout the day, performing some perennial holiday favorites. This was the 17th Annual Christmas Calvacade for the Trentones.
“The money from the Foundation will be used by the 40 member Trentones of the Barbershop Harmony Society to buy new equipment and uniforms for their performances. The organization is the Quinte Regional Chapter of the SPEBSQSA (Society for the Encouragement of BarberShop Quartet Singing in America),” said Mr. Parsons when presenting the cheque.
John Warren of the Trentones said that “The Trentones have been entertaining audiences in the Quinte area for over 30 years. They have also been vocal advocates in their support for the Ontario District’s Harmonize For Speech Fund, which provides assistance to people needing specialized speech therapy.”
The Ontario Trillium Foundation, an agency of the Ministry of Culture, receives annually $100 million of government funding generated through Ontario’s charity fund casino initiative. k
