New chorus formed in Peninsula Division

All chapters in the Peninsula Division participated in Singing Valentines

Great news for the Golden Horseshoe Singers, thanks to the Hamilton Chapter, they are proud to announce that they are starting an Afternoon Chorus for any men who would like the opportunity to sing on a more recreational basis.

They planned the first meeting for mid to late February at the Royal Botanical Gardens with
Jordan Travis as director.

Grimsby Chapter

• Continuing to pursue new members with its “Sing One Song” program whereby they invite men from the community to rehearse one song with the chorus for six weeks then join the chorus and sing that song on stage at the annual show.

• Feb. 14 — Participated in the Singing Valentine program.

• Apr. 8 — Annual show featuring Cornerstone.

• Apr. 22 — Planning on singing in spring competition.

• June 24 — Strawberry Social.

Hamilton Chapter

• Feb. 14 — Participated in Singing Valentine program.

• Late February — Start of the Afternoon Chorus.

• Mar. 8 — Hosted Peninsula Division Novice Contest.

• Apr. 30 — Charity Concert with Chameleon in Dundas.

• May 13 — Annual Show with Cadenge.

Niagara Falls Chapter

• Received two risers from Burlington and are making a donation to Harmonize For Speech in memory of the late great Burlington Chapter.

• Two members attended COTS.

• Jan. 17 — Tag or Gag contest.

• Feb. 14 — Participated in Singing Valentine program.

• Mar. 8 — Attended novice contest in Hamilton.

• Apr. 22— Plan to attend spring convention.

• Sept. 30 — Annual Show.

Oakville Chapter

• Are seeking an assistant chorus director.

• Feb. 12 — Sing out at Oakville Town Hall – Mass Festival.

• Feb. 14 — Participated in Singing Valentine program.

• Mar. 8 — Attended novice contest in Hamilton.

• May — Singing Garage Sale Fund Raiser.

• June — Four-part harmony workshop for high school students.

• June — Will perform and work at Oakville Waterfront Festival.

St. Catharines Chapter

• Feb. 13 — Participated in Singing Valentine program.

• Mar. 8 — Attended novice contest in Hamilton.

• Apr. 22 — Hoping to compete at spring convention.

• May 6 — May Day Breakfast at Enns home to support Newark Neighbours.

• May 13— Annual Show.

• Aug. 12 — Corn Roast at Wilson Farm.

Simcoe Chapter

• Membership now stands at 79.

• Congratulations to Neal Shafto on his appointment as Ontario COTS Co-ordinator for 2007.

• Eleven members attended COTS.

• A very successful Christmas Choral Celebration was held at St. James United Church, Simcoe with guest appearance from the Niagara Falls Chapter and the St. Catharines Chapter as well as members from the Peninsula Division.

• Feb. 14 — Participated in Singing Valentine program.

• Feb. 26 — Gospel Concert at Knox Presbyterian Church in St. Thomas.

• Mar. 8 — Attended novice contest in Hamilton.      k
