KW Chapter celebrates 60 years

By Don Coughlin, Heartland Division Co-ordinator

Guelph Chapter

The chapter enjoyed their day at the convention in Toronto as they competed in the spring contest. Members shared time with the Owen Sound Chapter at supper. The chapter continues to have many sing outs. They are preparing to host the Annual  Harmony College North weekend in June.

Kitchener/Waterloo Chapter

They held a very successful sixtieth anniversary show in the Centre in the Square. They had six former directors come back and help direct the opening half of their show. Former members and quartets also joined them on stage, making a 80 man chorus. A wonderful  slide presentation was included showing many faces from the past and a great history package. The Afterglow was filling as a wonderful meal and lots of singing filled the hall. The chapter is working on a number of up coming sing outs.

Mount Forest Chapter

The chapter is learning new music for annual show in the fall and have been working hard on a show for a local service club coming up at the end of May. A successful membership night was held with some new members now enjoying our music. Their new director has been working hard to improve the music sound.

Owen Sound Chapter

The chapter enjoyed their weekend at the convention in Toronto and enjoyed the fellowship of the Guelph Chapter during the evening meal. Plans are well on the way to host the Heartland Novice Contest in June. The chapter has been doing a lot of paid sing outs this spring. They participated in the local music festival and received many good reviews.     k
