Ontario District news from 1956

As gathered from district newsletters by Waldo Redekop

Chapters in 1956

As near as I can figure out from a listing in the 1956 issue of North’n Hi-Lights, the following were the chapters in the district that year (order as listed).

Oshawa, Belleville, Woodstock, Scarborough, Hamilton, Leamington, Windsor, London, Barrie, Midland, Welland, Kitchener-Waterloo, Orillia, St. Catharines, Amherstburg, Toronto, East York, Brantford, Sarnia, Sudbury.

Simcoe’s charter application was submitted with 50 members signed up. They were sponsored by the Brantford Chapter.

A chapter in Ottawa was also forming this year.

The Port Hope Chapter was also forming, being sponsored by the Toronto Chapter.

Other news

Ed McKay, the district membership chairman’s motto in 1956 was “In Clover When We’re Over 1,000 Members in ‘57.”

The district’s year seemed to go until the spring convention so the first issue in 1957 was published by the 1956 editor.     k
