Wonderful prize won at Pep Rally

By Don Pelvin

I won the Bob’s Yer Uncle prize at the APOC Pep Rally this year. I recently used this gift and wow, what a prize. I gathered 47 people together at a friends house in Caledon, Ontario. They have a wonderful 28-acre property with a unique home that has many rooms including one large sunroom that could seat us all.

I had the folk gather for a social hour. Then we sat down to a wonderful meal, followed by Bob’s Yer Uncle entertaining us for 42 minutes. What a package! The guests were all non-Barbershoppers. Boy, did they enjoy that.

We then had pies, tea and coffee. All in all, what a blast of a day.

The party had a wonderful twist to it. I had them bring either a pie or a salad and also donate $15 per person toward the Cancer Wing of the new Brampton Civic Hospital which will open in 2007.

Not only did Bob’s Yer Uncle perform for us, they also sold their CD and donated $5 from the sale of each CD (and they sold many) to the hospital. So, Bob’s Yer Uncle raised $995 for APOC. Then we raised another $780 for cancer care.

I say that the Bob’s Yer Uncle prize was no doubt the best prize I could ever want.

A huge thanks to these four very classy gentlemen, who mixed beautifully with the guests and entertained us beyond expectation.

One very classy act.—And boy, can they sing!

Thanks. I will be buying tickets again next year.     k
