Great convention support

I am proud of the Peninsula Division support at the fall convention. We had one chorus and 12 quartets competing. The Hamilton Chorus represented the Peninsula Division and did an excellent performance, finishing fourth. Seven quartets from the Hamilton Chapter, with three in the top 10.

Chameleon are our new Ontario District Quartet Champions who gave an awesome and supremely entertaining performance. Silver Threads placed second in the senior competition and will represent the Ontario District at the Midwinter Convention in New Mexico. We had three quartets from the Simcoe Chapter and two quartets from the Niagara Falls Chapter. Congratulations to all our competitors. A GREAT CONVENTION! Our thanks go to the Kingston Chapter for hosting this convention

Grimsby Chapter

• On four Tuesdays, September 26, October 3, 10, and 17, the Grimsby Chapter ran a successful membership drive titled “Outreach 06.” Individual invitations were mailed to prospective members. An eye-catching poster was displayed throughout town. There were public service announcement on the local radio station and the local newspapers in Grimsby and Stoney Creek ran weekly articles.

• Each meeting was held at the Old Pump House on the shore of Lake Ontario and proved to be a delightful place to welcome prospective new members. Special thanks to the A Capella Chorus of Niagara Falls, Phase Four, At the Post and the Pride of Niagara Chorus  for providing the entertainment which was the key to the success of the drive. It is estimated that they will add at least four members.

• Oct 27 - 16  Members attended Can Am.

• Dec 5 - Free benefit concert at the Trinity United Church. Attendees will be asked to provide a non-perishable food donation or  make a donation to the Benevolent Fund.

• Jan 26, 2007 - Installation of Officers and Ladies Night dinner.

• Apr 14, 2007 - Annual Cabaret style show at St. Mary’s Hall in Grimsby.

Hamilton Chapter

• Oct 20-22 - Attended fall convention and competed in the chorus competition giving a great presentation and receiving a fourth-place finish.

• Oct 27 - Attended Can am in St. Catharines and won the Man-Miles trophy.

• Dec 2 - The Sound Christmas show at Compass Point Eaglesfield Campus at 7:30 p.m..

• Dec 8 - Christmas performance with the Burlington Concert Band and Classic Blend at Compass Point Church at 7:30 p.m..

• Dec 13 - Christmas party and installation of officers at The Glendale Golf Club.

• Jun 2, 2007 - Spring show with Swing Rosie.

Niagara Falls Chapter

• Oct 20-22 - Two quartets Forward Motion and Vintage competed in Kingston.

• Oct 27 - Attended Can Am and won the highest percentage attendance trophy.

• Nov 15 - ACN float in Santa Clause Parade in Niagara Falls.

• Dec 1 - Candlelight walk in Niagara-on-the-Lake.

• Dec  2 - Christmas Stroll in downtown Fonthill.

• Dec 8 - S.A. Food Drive Concert ACN with Pride of Niagara.

• Dec 9 - ACN float in Santa Clause Parade in Niagara-on-the-Lake and Candlelight walk in Niagara Falls.

• Dec 19 - Visits to Retirement Homes in Niagara Falls.

Oakville Chapter

• Oakville are making plans to compete in the spring competition in 2007. Their show is planned for April 28,2007, at Glen Abbey United Church in Oakville.

• Oct 20-21 - 14 members from Oakville sang in the Mic Tester Chorus in Kingston.

• Oct 27 - 15 members attended Can Am in St. Catharines.

• Dec 3 - Ian Anderson House (hospice) Tree of Lights ceremony in Oakville.

• Dec 5 - PROBUS group at Knox Church Oakville.

• Dec 6 - Club Sixty-Five at Burlington Holiday Inn.

• Dec 11 - Lodge #594 at Hillcrest Masonic Temple in Hamilton.

• Dec 14 - PROBUS group at Burlington Holiday Inn.

• Dec 18 - Senior residents at Churchill Place in Oakville.

• Dec 20 - Senior residents at Trafalgar Lodge in Oakville.

• Dec 21 - Senior residents at Sunrise Living in Oakville.

St. Catharines Chapter

• Oct 20-22 - Two members sang in the Mic Tester Chorus in Kingston.

• Oct 27 - Host of the 2006 Can Am night and did a great job.

• Nov  21 - Tree Lighting for the Palliative Care in Niagara Falls.

• Dec 1 - Candlelight walk in Niagara-on-the-Lake.

• Dec 9 - Candlelight walk in Niagara Falls.

• Dec 11-12 - Seniors Homes Christmas Singouts.

• Dec 19 - Annual Tag and Gag Night.

• Dec 21 -  Retirees singout  in Lewiston N.Y..

Simcoe Chapter

• Nov 11 - 50th Anniversary Show featuring FRED and Chameleon and the Gentlemen of Harmony Chorus at the Simcoe Composite School Auditorium. Show times 2 p.m. and 8 p.m..

• Nov 25 - Sing Out Cedar St. Community Church 8 p.m..

• Dec 10 - Christmas Choral Celebration 2 p.m. at St. James United Church.

• Feb 25 2007 - Sing out at Knox Presbyterian church in St. Thomas at 2 p.m..

• Apr 21 2007 - Will attend spring convention.    k
