Jim David Turnbull
1917—2006
By Rod Shepherd, Oakville Chapter member
Jim Turnbull passed away suddenly on December 12, 2006 at the Georgetown Hospital in his 90th year. He is survived by his wife, Edna, and five children, six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Jim was a longtime member of AA for 47 years. He also was an active member of many service clubs in the Georgetown area.
A Barbershopper for over 41 years, Jim was a founding member of the Georgetown Chapter of SPEBSQSA. He later joined the Brampton Chapter when the Georgetown Chapter folded. Upon the demise of the Brampton Chapter, Jim joined the Oakville Chapter where he was a member for over 30 years. He only recently retired due to failing health, sight problems and the difficulty in driving from Georgetown to Oakville, especially at night.
He will be long remembered for his recitation voice-over to “Old Wedding Ring” which he dedicated to his wife, Edna, at every possible opportunity.
His friendly smile and resounding bass voice will be missed by all who knew him. k
