London 2007 board serves the membership
By Gary Hancock, Western Division Co-ordinator
On December 18, 2006, the incoming board members from the London Chapter had their first chance to serve the chapter members. This service was not in the form of the normal chapter work, but by preparing a meal and serving it to the members. This event has been going on for a number of years and is a way of breaking in the rookies.
The meal of ham and scalloped potatoes plus vegetables and desert is prepared at the hall by the incoming board (with maybe a little help from the spouses).
This year the board members were resplendent in their aprons and chefs hats with “2007 BOARD” emblazoned across them in bright red letters. This event is designed to reinforce rule six. For those of you who don’t know it is “Don’t take yourself so seriously.”
The 2006 Western Division novice quartet and VLQ sang, as well as the chapter quartets Hedz Up and Afternoon Delight. Then past Western Division co-ordinator, Ken Dodge, did the honors of installing the hard working board for 2007. It was a fun evening with lots of fellowship and good cheer and a good way to start the break for Christmas. k
