Membership needs to be increased
By Tom Nairn, District VP Membership
W e have seven chapters that are showing an increase, two that are even and the balance are in the red. I will be contacting all chapter membership VP’s in the near future to find out what plans they have for membership drives and what if anything has happened over the past 13 months.
I’ll also want to see what their goals are and if they can be achieved.
I would also like some input into what kind of incentives the district can offer as the loss of 79 members in 13 months cannot continue.
It was a loss mentioned in one of Charlie Davenport’s notes that stated that Ontario had 101 members whose memberships were late in coming in, which probably accounts for a drop of 56 members from December to January.
In the 1990s, the district’s goal was to be 2,000 members by the year 2000. We stood at over 1,700 in 2000.
I can use all the suggestions that you can offer. We do have a great hobby and it’s time to let Ontario in on the great times we as Barbershoppers enjoy. k
