Ted Ott
1932—2007
By Tom Sziklasi (with files from obit notice)
The Ontario Barbershop community has once again lost a member to the great chorus in the sky. On August 15, 2007, Edward (Ted) Vernon Ott, a 48-year Society member and longtime member of the Dukes of Harmony and a seven-year member of the Aces of Harmony, passed away after a lengthy battle with cancer.
Ted loved to fish and enjoyed carving caricatures. Willa and Ted travelled all over the U.S.A. and Canada. As much as he enjoyed barbershop music, he also found time to listen to the Big Bands and music from the 50s and 60s.
Many of you in the district have known Ted for many years as an active Barbershopper and more recently a member of Harmony Ranch. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Visitation was held on August 16, 2007 at 10 a.m., followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m.. Barbershoppers (nearly 100) sang “I Believe,” “23rd Psalm” and “From the First Hello.”
The family requested that memorial donations be made to Harmonize For Speech. k
